Go Red For Women in a Virtual World!
Chesapeake Utilities Corporation has been a longstanding partner with the American Heart Association (AHA) and contributor to the organization’s annual Southern Delaware Go Red for Women Luncheon. Typically, the event is held at the Dover Downs Hotel and Conference Center, in Dover, DE; however, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person event was modified to was modified to serve as the first AHA virtual event that was held in Delaware.
As a legacy sponsor, the Company and our team of employee volunteers continued to support the AHA’s initiative as folks reworked and prepared for the event presented on May 27, 2020. Despite many challenges presented by the pandemic, the virtual luncheon included Event Chair Jennifer Cohan, Delaware Secretary of Transportation; powerful guest speakers; a virtual silent auction; and fashion show. This year’s theme, “2020: Live Your Best Life!” championed the focus of AHA’s mission, which includes promoting awareness of women’s health, preventing heart disease and stroke and advocating for more support of research and education initiatives for women’s health especially related to heart disease and stroke.

“Thank you all so much for your tireless work on our 2019-2020 Go Red for Women Campaign. Through your tireless dedication we raised more than $300,000 to help save lives right here in Delaware. What an incredible total – and you have truly put Delaware on the map. I can’t tell you how many of our AHA colleagues reach out to us and ask ‘How did you guys in Delaware do it?’ Our answer every time is, ‘Our incredible volunteers – that’s how!’ It’s the truth and you are all dedicated to helping us save lives,” said David Morris, Executive Director, Delaware American Heart Association.
