Marketing and Demand Generation Overview

The Marketing and Demand Generation team’s focus is on strategic marketing initiatives and campaigns to drive sales and advocacy for unregulated and regulated business units at Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. The Marketing and Demand Generation team is responsible for three key areas:

  1. Marketing, more specifically inbound marketing, entails creating valuable content that is designed to address the problems and needs of our ideal customers. In doing so, we not only attract qualified prospects but also build trust and credibility for our businesses. Some inbound marketing methods may include: brand awareness, lead generation, lead nurturing, graphic design (website – first impressions), email marketing, video marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, blogging, SEO (search engine optimization)

  1. Demand Generation is a sales-centric approach to driving awareness and interest in a product or service (i.e., demand). Demand generation focuses on more typical outbound marketing methods such as emails, company-sponsored webinars, sponsorships/events and online ads of all types. It’s a proactive attempt to find people who are not necessarily looking but are a prospect match nonetheless. Demand generation expands our audience, creates buzz, and drives traffic to transform interest into action.  Demand generation has three steps:
    1. Create demand for a product/service
    2. Generate qualified leads
    3. Pass leads off to sales team to become customers

  1. Advocacy to support and promote the roles of natural gas, renewable natural gas and propane in the energy mix to aid in marketing and demand generation efforts.
